Featured Entry - Wal-Mart in China

Wal-Mart is opening in china. It is competing with one other similar store. At first I thought Wal-Mart would do great. A whole new market with a booming economy, how could they lose? But the general feeling in class was that the difference in values would people wouldn’t buy from a store like Wal-Mart. For instance it is common to go shopping every two days or so, meaning most people probably buy in small amounts. Another problem is that the products wont be that cheap, as they are made in china anyways. However I believe he values of the Chinese people is changing. They are becoming more western every day. However with a communist government, how will they react. Surly they don’t want to be America, and Wal-Mart is about as American as a store can get. Therefore I think Wal-Mart in china will fail.
